Edible Plants

Today, instead of kindergarten, Rachel and I went on a field trip with a group of homeschooling folks.  We took a walk through a park and learned all about the edible plants around us.  It was actually pretty interesting.  There were lots of kids of all ages.  We tasted everything from crab apples (which were liked) and to clover, Creeping Charlie, Goldenrod, Dandylion leaves, Evening Primrose flowers....and many more that I don't remember.  Luckily we have a book that covers everything.

The biggest hit to the under 6 crowd were the ducks. :)

Lang Pioneer Village

A totally unexpected and really wonderful living museum....in the middle of rural Ontario.

In the printer's shop, the man working there is an associate professor of history at the University of Arizona.  He was making prints from engravings from the mid 1800's.

Rachel LOVED the school house.  She promptly found a desk, grabbed a slate and chalk and did exactly what the teacher asked.  Snort. Not expecting this to happen in real life.

She drew the flag at the front of the classroom.
